چکیده

Onboard both the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership and Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) series of satellites, Ozone Mapping Profiler Suite Nadir Mapper (OMPS-NM) is a new generation total ozone column sensor used to generate products. This study presents method for efficiently assessing OMPS-NM geolocation accuracy using spatially collocated radiance measurements from Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer (VIIRS) Moderate Band M1 by taking advantage its high spatial resolution (750 m at nadir) accurate geolocation. The basic idea find best collocation position with maximum correlation between VIIRS real radiances perturbing line-of-sight (LOS) vectors in cross-track along-track directions small steps spacecraft coordinate. perturbation angles where are optimally aligned characterize accuracy. In addition, assessment results can be optimize field view angle lookup table Sensor Data Record (SDR) processing software improve To demonstrate methodology, proposed successfully employed evaluate different resolutions. indicate that, after was updated, SNPP NOAA-20 on sub-pixel level (less than ¼ pixel size) along all scan positions performance very stable time. this lays down framework future high-resolution measurements.

First results from a rotational Raman scattering cloud algorithm applied to the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP) Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper

This paper reports initial results from an Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) Nadir Mapper cloud pressure and cloud fraction algorithm. The OMPS cloud products are intended for use in OMPS ozone or other tracegas algorithms. We developed the OMPS cloud products using a heritage algorithm developed for the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) on NASA’s Aura satellite. The cloud pressure algori...

Postlaunch performance of the Suomi National Polarorbiting Partnership Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) nadir sensors

The prelaunch specifications for nadir sensors of the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) were designed to ensure that measurements from them could be used to retrieve total column ozone and nadir ozone profile information both for operational use and for use in long-term ozone data records. In this paper, we will show results from our extensive analysis of the performance of the nadir mapp...

An Overview of the Nadir Sensor and Algorithms for the NPOESS Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS)

The Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) nadir sensor and algorithms for the United States National Polarorbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) comprise a system to map ozone total column globally in 24 hours and to measure the altitude distribution of ozone in the upper stratosphere (30-50 km). The sensor consists of a wide field (110 degree) telescope and two spectrom...
